Chhath Puja is one of the most ancient and significant Hindu festivals, primarily celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Nepal’s Mithila region. Dedicated to Surya Dev (the Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya (a manifestation of Mother Nature and the goddess of well-being), the festival expresses gratitude for life on earth and seeks blessings for health, prosperity, and happiness.

📅 Rituals & Observances
Chhath Puja is a four-day festival marked by strict discipline, fasting, and spiritual purity:
- Nahay Khay (Day 1) – Devotees bathe in rivers or ponds and prepare satvik (pure, vegetarian) food, starting their ritual fast.
- Kharna (Day 2) – Observers maintain a nirjala fast (without water) until sunset, then break it with kheer, chapati, and fruits, before beginning a 36-hour fast without food or water.
- Sandhya Arghya (Day 3) – Devotees gather on riverbanks to offer prayers and arghya (offerings of water, fruits, and sweets) to the setting sun with traditional songs and folk rituals.
- Usha Arghya (Day 4) – The fast concludes with prayers to the rising sun, symbolizing hope, renewal, and the cycle of life.
